Man Helps Postal Worker Threatened With Gun

A postal worker was threatened with a gun and robbed as he made a delivery at a post office in Stoke Aldermoor yesterday morning.

The 25-year-old was attacked as he pulled up in Acorn Street, Coventry. A member of the public came to his rescue and helped get back some of the cash.

A West Midlands police spokeswoman said:

“As he left the van, the postal worker was approached by two men who struck him about the head, threatened him with a gun and stole cash. He suffered bruising behind the ear.”

The injured postal worker comes from Halesowen. A man thought to be in his 60s went to help and caused one of the robbers to drop some cash.

The two offendors made off in a Sierra car driven by an accomplice. This car was found abandoned in The Barley Lea.

The robbers were described as two white males in their teens or early 20s who were clean-shaven.

One was 5ft 7ins, medium build, with a baseball cap, wearing dark bottoms and white trainers. The other was said to be 5ft 8ins, thin and casually dressed.
