Gun
Fired During Fight on Rugby Estate
Shots were fired
during a fight in Rugby which left one man in hospital - the
victim and two others have since been arrested.
Police were
called to an incident after reports of a street fight and a gun
being used in Seathwaite, on the Brownsover estate, about 7pm on
Thursday. Residents heard gunfire and called 999.
A 21-year-old
man, not from the Rugby area, had a head injury, believed to have
come from a blow to the head. A gun had been fired, but police said the injuries were not caused by the
firearm.
He is still in
hospital and has been arrested on charges of violent disorder and
possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.
Police said his injury is not
life threatening. It is not thought anyone else was injured.
Two men, aged 30
and 39, have been arrested in Leicester and a vehicle has been
seized. Warwickshire officers are set to interview them.
A handgun was
recovered from the scene last night where a group of people had fled in a
vehicle before police arrived. Officers have set up an incident
tent and have combed the area for forensic clues.
