Three
Arrested After Rugby Arson Attacks
Three men arrested by police investigating two arson attacks in Rugby
earlier this week have been released without charge.
Warwickshire
police said the men – aged 23, 40 and 47 – were picked up on
Wednesday. They were interviewed and then released on police bail
on Thursday.
House to house
inquires have been carried out in the areas close to the scene of
the arson attacks which took place in George Street and Kew Road
after 1am on Tuesday.
Two homes were
deliberately set on fire, and police are asking if other people
may have suffered a minor attack or suspected arson in the last
few weeks, but failed to report it.
Det Supt Steve
Hussey, who is leading the investigation, said:
“We are not
aware of any other incidents but if anyone else has been the
victim of an arson attack, however minor or insignificant they
may think it is, we would urge them to contact us on our
confidential hotline number as soon as possible.
“It may be
that they did not think it was serious enough to report at the
time but their information could be of great help to this
investigation.
“We are
continuing to treat these two incidents as attempted murder and
we have a large team of highly-trained detectives who are
working tirelessly to identify the persons responsible for them.”
The hotline
number for anyone with information is 01926 415792.
