Snatch
Attempt on Rugby Teenager
A 15-year-old girl had a lucky escape when a
man tried to snatch her from a telephone box in Rugby.
The girl was just finishing a call on the
corner of Murray Road and Craven Road, by the cattle market and
truck park, when he tried to get her into his car.
A police spokeswoman said:
“A man in a car drew up and offered to
drive her home. He then tried to drag her out of the phone box.
“She managed to break free, and kick him
and run away.”
The man who tried to abduct her was described
as: white, about 6ft to 6ft 2in, with a dark brown beard, with
grey streaks, and grey hair.
He was stocky and had a large silver earring.
He was in an old rusty pale blue Sierra that had a red stripe
around the middle – but it was missing on one panel.
He was wearing a dirty t-shirt that was
ripped, and a baseball cap.
Anyone with information about the potential
abduction about 8pm on Friday should call Rugby police on 01788
541111.
