A man walking through the city centre was told to hand over his mobile phone or be stabbed.

Two thugs approached him as he walked along Greyfriars Lane last night.

A police spokeswoman said:

“The victim was approached in the street by two men demanding his mobile phone and who threatened to stab him, although no weapon was seen.

“The man handed over the phone, which was a Nokia silver model worth £400, and the offenders ran off.”

The descriptions were of two white males, one was 5ft 8in with dark-coloured clothing and a baseball cap – the other had lighter clothing.
