Thirty firefighters were called in to tackle a house blaze close to the University of Warwick yesterday.

Crews from Kenilworth, Leamington and Canley went to the house, Pointed Birches, on Cryfield Grange Road, Gibbet Hill on the Coventry/Warwickshire boundary.

The first floor and roof were well alight and firefighters were on the scene from 8.15am on Sunday to 11.45 that night. Much of the large house was lost in the blaze.
