Three Die In M6 Pile-up
Three people died after a nine-vehicle pile-up on the M6 near Rugby
in the Friday night rush hour.
The southbound carriageway was
closed all evening and motorists faced lengthy diversions - the motorway was shut at the
M6-M69 junction near Walsgrave.
Emergency services from Warwickshire,
Leicestershire, and Northamptonshire were called to the scene on the M1/M6/A14 junction.
The vehicles affected were queueing to
get off the M6 and head east on to the A14. Debris was scattered across the carriageway.
The accident happened about 6pm on
Friday. The injured were taken to hospitals in Coventry and Kettering.
The dead people, all believed to be in
one car, have not been named.
A French lorry driver was being
questioned by Leicestershire police.
