Police are appealing for witnesses after robbers pulled up outside a city jewellers and smashed their way into the front window display to steal jewels.

They got away with £5,000 of jewellery from Harvey and Thompson in Hales Street at 9.55am on Thursday.

They broke into the window display with a claw hammer and fled with their haul on a motorbike.

The white men are described as: the first is 5ft 8in of medium build, with black jeans, motorbike helmet and jacket. The other is 5ft 7in with short dark hair, wearing a basketball cap with dark jeans and trainers.
