An elderly lady had to have part
of her leg amputated after she and a friend were pinned to a wall by a
car that lost control in Coventry.
The 76-year-old and her
83-year-old friend were waking home along Keresley Road at 4pm on
Saturday when the accident happened.
A 51-year-old woman from Ash
Green was driving along Radford Road and stopped at the traffic island
at the junction between Keresley Road and Brownshill Green Road.
She lost control of her vehicle
and slew off the road, knocking the pensioners, who are both from
Coundon, against the wall.
The garden wall was 4ft high and
had railings.
The women were not impaled on
the railings, but they were cut down by firefighters to help the rescue
operation.
The 76-year-old had to have her
right leg amputated below the knee. She also suffered a compound
fracture to her other leg.
The 83-year-old suffered a
compound fracture to each leg.
Both
are being treated for their injuries at Coventry and Warwickshire
hospital. Witnesses are being urged to call police on 024 7653 9000.
