The owner of a Coventry off-licence
refused to be intimidated by thugs who tried to hold up his shop when
they raided it last night.
The attackers went into Wints
Wines in Mayfield Road, Earlsdon at 10.25pm and asked about buying
cigarettes, but left without making a purchase.
Ten minutes later the attackers
returned wielding a metal bar and demanded goods.
But the 52-year-old owner
refused to give way, and the raiders made way empty-handed. He was left
uninjured, but shaken by his ordeal.
Police were today appealing for
anyone who saw the pair to come forward.
They are both white and aged
about 18, and around 5ft 6in.
One had a black-hooded fleece
jacket, with the hood pulled up. His accomplice is slim and was wearing
a dark woollen hat, jeans and a light-coloured jacket.
Witnesses should ring police on
024 7653 9040.
