Members of staff at a restaurant
on the edge of Coventry were tied up by masked raiders who stole
thousands of pounds last night.
The two men walked into the
Little Chef on the A46 Eastern by-pass at 10pm and forced the two male members of
staff into the back room.
They were then bound by plastic
ties and the manager, aged 24, had a foot put on his
head to hold him down and was kicked.
He suffered wounds to his mouth
and teeth and was treated for his injuries at Coventry and Warwickshire
Hospital.
The manager was forced to hand
over the keys to the safe. He did so and the attackers stole around
£4,000.
The manager and the chef, aged
18, eventually managed to wriggle free from the ties, and escaped from
the room via a skylight into another office, from where they called the
police.
During the raid another person
walked into the restaurant to give one of the members of staff a lift
home. He too was bound.
The raiders are believed to have
crossed the A46 towards the Cocked Hat pub.
Police are appealing for anyone
who saw them to contact Rugby CID on 01788 541111.
The
first offender is about 5ft 6in, chubby build, and was wearing a
shiny long black jacket. His accomplice was slimmer, and both wore dark
balaclavas.
