A man posing as a water board official stole £200 from a 93-year-old woman when he visited her Coventry home.

He knocked on the back door of the pensioner’s house in Roundhouse Road, Stoke Aldermoor at 12.30pm on Friday.

The man, who was aged between 20 and 30, asked the woman to turn the taps in the kitchen on and off.

While she was doing so he went into the lounge and stole the cash out of her purse.

When the victim confronted the man he left by the front door.

He is white, about 5ft 8ins, with short mousy brown hair and was wearing a blue shirt with narrow stripes.
