OAP's Car
Rammed As He Tries To Foil Robber
An
83-year-old man was rammed in his car as he tried to prevent a robber
from fleeing the scene of a crime in Coventry.
The
pensioner drove his car in front of the attacker’s stolen escape
vehicle following the incident in Clay Lane, Stoke on Tuesday at
1.30pm.
A
51-year-old woman was walking to work when she was set upon by the
offender.
He
grabbed her by the throat, dragged her into a nearby alleyway and
pushed her to the ground, robbing her jewellery worth £350.
As
the offender made his escape in a stolen white estate car, the
pensioner, who had witnessed the attack, drove his Mazda in front of
the vehicle.
The
robber reversed and rammed the car and managed to manoeuvre his way
around it and drove off.
DC
Paul Gardner said:
“The
elderly man wasn’t hurt but his car was slightly damaged.
“We
would appeal to anyone who saw the incident or saw the car being
stolen from David Road in Stoke two hours before the attack to come
forward.”
The
car was later found abandoned in St Margaret’s Road.
The
victim suffered scratches and bruising to her face.
The
offender is black, between 5ft 10ins and 6ft tall and slim.
Witnesses
should ring 024 7653 9130 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
