Con Men Steal OAP's Money
Two con men stole
money from an 84-year-old Bedworth woman yesterday after they
pretended to check her water pressure.
The pair entered her
house in Burton Road, Bedworth at 1.45pm yesterday. One of the men
said he needed to check the water pressure and went upstairs.
His accomplice, who
did not speak at all during the raid, distracted the victim by playing
with her dog.
When the pair had
left the pensioner realised that her purse containing a small amount
of money had been stolen. She believes the first man may have taken
the money while the second was distracting her.
The first offender
was aged between 20 and 22, of medium build and 5ft 6ins tall and may
have been suffering from an eye defect. He was wearing grey and blue
jogging bottoms and a checked shirt.
The second man also
was aged between 20 and 22 and was heavily built. He has a round face,
dark hair and was wearing a blue denim shirt and jeans.
Police are linking
the crime with a separate incident in Dorlecote Road, Nuneaton at 2pm,
where an elderly woman was disturbed shortly after 2pm by a person
answering the same description.
The man said he
needed to turn a valve off in her house, but left when she refused to
let him in.
