Coventry police are still waiting to interview the
victim of a city centre attack almost a week after the city centre incident.
The 19-year-old, who has yet to be named by police, was injured in the early hours of
last Friday when fighting broke out in Broadgate close to the Lady Godiva statue.
The city centre was busy with students celebrating the end of term. The man was injured
when a fight broke out among a small group of revellers.
A 20-year-old student was arrested but released on police bail and officers are now
waiting until the medical authorities allow them to interview the victim.
A police spokesman told CWN:
"The man is thankfully recovering from his injuries and is no longer in intensive
care but he is not yet well enough to be interviewed.
"We really dont know when we will be able to speak to him and are being
guided by the medical authorities.
"We are very keen for witnesses to come forward and try to shed some light on what
happened. It was a busy night in town and we are hoping someone may have seen what
happened."
