CWN Webcam - Farewell to an Institution After running for six years and having been featured on page 3 of both the Coventry Evening Telegraph and The Sun we have decided to retire the CWN Webcam. Our CWN webcam broke new ground as one of the first webcams in Britain in 1996. It first saw action when it zoomed in on the Gents Toilet in the Upper Precinct. The webcam later turned 180 degrees to show the Lady Godiva statue under the Broadgate canopy to the world, as well as numerous events such as the Coventry Irish Festival and the arrival of Thrust SSC. Its spin-offs also ventured further afield to show the first live webcast of an England basketball game at the Skydome Arena, as well going afloat on a boat at Coventry Canal Basin. But every dog has its day and the view from CWN's office in the Technocentre will never be able to match the glory days of Broadgate.
So it's goodbye to the CWN Webcam - you served Coventry well. |
