Australian heart-throb Jason Donovan is to return to Coventry after performing a sell-out show in the city a year ago.

The former chart-topper had SkyDome-based Jumpin Jaks packed to its 900 capacity when he appeared there last Autumn, and bosses have now persuaded him to do a repeat performance.

He will take the Jaks stage on Tuesday 16 October, to revive a string of his number one hits including ‘Too Many Broken Hearts’, ‘Sealed With a Kiss’ and ‘Any Dream Will Do’.

Donovan’s return comes after feedback from Jaks customers indicated that he was the act they would most like to see back in the live entertainment bar.

Jaks manager Andrew MacLeod believes that is a good choice and party-goers will be given another great night.

He said:

“We have booked some great musicians over the last year or so, including Jason Donovan, Tony Hadley, Go West and Martine McCutcheon.

“They were all sell-out shows that we could have filled several times over but the feedback for Jason was unbelievable.

“We are regularly asked to try and bring him back and have been working on doing just that for some time.

“The 16 October show will be every bit as good as his last appearance and should be a memorable night.

“I would urge anyone interested in seeing Jason perform in Coventry to get their tickets as early as they can because there will be big demand.”

Donovan shot to fame in this country whilst playing Scott Robinson in hit soap Neighbours and, together with co-star Kylie Minogue, smashed records with the best-selling number one ‘Especially For You’.

He was the first male Australian artist to hold the single and album top spots at the same time and has wooed thousands of theatre-goers with his performances in The Rocky Horror Show and Joseph.
