[02 DEC 98] COVENTRY BEES SPEEDWAY FEATURE
Bees Off Track As Meredith Quits

Coventry Bees track specialist Colin Meredith is leaving the team after 17 years at Brandon.

The circuit manager has decided to end his relationship with the Bees at the end of this month after overseeing the completion of Brandon's track redevelopment.

Meredith was also team boss for two years, leading Bees to success in last years Craven Shield, but was replaced in this position last November by Colin Pratt.

This removal of duties was clearly a factor in Meredith's decision. He said:

"I was upset at losing the manager's job, although I understood why it happened.

"I feel as if I am going nowhere and it's time for a change. I didn't leave last year because I wanted to stay on and see through the track redevelopment."

Meredith is one of the most highly regarded track preparation specialists in stock-car racing and speedway, and now plans to offer his services in this field. He said:

"I have now purchased my own `blade' for track preparation. I am open to offers."
