Driver
Dies In Warwickshire Road Crash
A driver has been
killed in a collision on the Fosse Way in the far south of
Warwickshire.
The accident
happened at about 12.30pm today when a car was in collision with a
refuse lorry near the Portobello crossroads, where the A429 meets
the B4035.
Emergency
services called to the scene close to Stretton-on-Fosse and
Shipston-on-Stour. The location at Rowborough is close to the
Warwickshire/Gloucestershire border.
The
A429 was remained closed for most of the afternoon.
The
car driver, has been named as Paul Hardiman, 25, of Tinkers Close,
Moreton-in-Marsh.
The
lorry driver, thought to be uninjured, was Roland Blackwell, 51,
of Long Compton in south Warwickshire.
A
police spokeswoman said:
"The
car was heading north and for an unknown reason
crossed the carriageway and collided head on with the
lorry.
"This
was at a point about 250 metres south of the Portobello
crossroads."
